Sustainable Travel

Responsible travel to natural areas that conserves the environment, sustains the well-being of the local people, and involves interpretation and education. It focuses on low-impact, small-scale alternatives to standard commercial mass tourism.

Geography & Borders

A zone comprising 27 European countries that have officially abolished all passport and all other types of border control at their mutual borders. Once you enter one Schengen country, you can typically travel to others without showing your passport again.

Planning

The travel period between the 'Peak' (high) and 'Off-Peak' (low) seasons. This is often considered the best time to travel as weather is still pleasant, but crowds are thinner and prices are more affordable than in mid-summer or holidays.

Legal & Entry

A type of visa that is granted at a port of entry. This means you do not need to apply for a travel permit at an embassy before you fly; instead, you pay your fee and get your stamp directly at the airport or border crossing when you arrive.
